The assessment of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and endotelial NO – synthase (eNOS) expression levels in placental tissue samples obtained from pregnant females with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) has been performed. The highest level of these vasoactive factors expression was displayed to be in placental tissue samples from GDM puerperae who received nutritional therapy, and the lowest expression level was detected in PTS from GDM patients receiving insulin therapy. It can explain bigger rate of adverse perinatal outcomes in pregnancy with poorly controlled diabetes mellitus and high degree of hyperglycemia, typical for patients receiving insulin therapy.
