The association of +/– polymorphic markers of GSTM1 and GSTT1 genes and Ile105Val polymorphic marker of GSTP1 gene with the risk of development of breast cancer (BC) and its histological subtypes was studied. We have showed an association of null genotypes of GSTT1 and GSTM1 genes and Ile/Val and Val/Val genotypes of GSTP1 gene with BC (OR = 1.89, 1.65, 1.47 and 1,33, respectively). We have also found the highly significant association of the null genotype of GSTT1 gene and Ile/Val and Val/Val genotypes of GSTP1 gene with BC in patients with disease manifestation at the age less than 53 years (OR = 2.33, 2.07 and 2.31, respectively). A strong association with BC in group of carriers of both null genotypes of GSTT1 and GSTM1 genes have been found also (OR = 3.18). The maximal risk of development of breast cancer occurs in case of combined carriage of three genotype combination (both null genotypes of GSTT1 and GSTM1 genes and Val/Val genotype of GSTP1 gene (OR = 16.42). The results of our study are the evidence that genes encoding xenobiotic biotransformation enzymes play an important role in the development of breast cancer in females residing in Moscow region.
