Introduction. Сhronic sialadenitis is an inflammatory salivary gland disease with unclear etiology and not fully understood pathogenesis. A special attention of researchers is paid to the study of various molecular markers secreted in the course of chronic inflammatory process, especially to cytokines. Aim of the study. Comparative evaluation of TNFα and IL6 levels in salivary fluid from parotid gland of patients with chronic ductal sialadenitis with relation to main clinical and laboratory factors. Methods. 18 patients with exacerbation of chronic sialadenitis underwent standard anti-inflammatory complex therapy, and after abatement of acute inflammation salivary fluid was collected. TNFα and IL6 content in parotid gland salivary fluid was measured by ELISA techniques. Results. Highly significant concordant increase of TNFα and IL6 levels was found in saliva of patients complaining of salivary glands’ problems as compared to those without such complaints. IL6 level was significantly positively associated with disease stage and clinical character of inflammatory process. Conclusions. The data obtained testify high informative value of IL6 concentration level in parotid salivary fluid of patients with chronic ductal sialadenitis, and this allows to recommend this cytokine’s measurement in practical dentistry for dynamic follow-up of such patients.
